A WALK IN THE PARK
This is a fairly challenging but incredibly rewarding hike! Just 20 kilometres from the centre of Stockholm lies one of the most unspoilt areas of natural beauty in central Sweden. The area is characterised by a rift valley landscape which is typical for central Sweden but unique from an international perspective. The park extends over almost 5,000 hectares and has been protected to preserve its exceptional natural values and to safeguard its importance for recreation. You can find primeval forest here with pine trees that are 400 years old, clear forest lakes and a large number of unusual plants and animals. You can also see broad-leaved deciduous woodland, open arable land and historical buildings of cultural interest.

AFTER EFFORT COMFORT
This is the most challenging of our hikes, and also our favourite! Once you get on your way you’ll feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere, not within close proximity to the hustle and bustle of Stockholm. You won’t be able to hear the noises of the City, instead your ears will be full of the sounds of the surrounding nature; birds singing, the wind rustling the leaves in the tree, and the sound of the earth underfoot as you hike. The scenery throughout this hike is outstanding. You will pass 5 lakes on route and are able to bathe in all of them should you so wish. A gorgeous lake and a well deserved sauna* awaits you when you’re finished!

Distance: 12 km / Duration: 5 – 6 hours

ARCHIPELAGO HIKE
If you are in Stockholm for a few days, we highly recommend you get out into the archipelago where 30,000 islands are awaiting exploration! This hike is on one of the islands out there, and will not only give you a good hike but some spectacular scenery and fabulous views. When you break for coffee or lunch you can also take a dip in the Baltic Sea and maybe observe some wildlife. Along the way you’ll not only see pine-tree forests, rocky landscapes, beautiful beaches, lakes and marshes, but also picturesque traditional red wooden houses, harbours and ruins. This hike will give you a real insight into typical Swedish archipelago life!

Distance: 10 – 13 km / Duration: 4-5 hours
Difficulty: 2 – moderate / Total height difference: 300m
Travel time to the trailhead:

*PLEASE NOTE: If you do not have your own private transportation, this hike is only available during the summer months as the public transport that reaches the trailhead during the summer is not available the rest of the year.
SUBWAY TO SAUNA
This short hike is the closest to the City so is a perfect choice if you only have a short amount of time. The Nature Reserve you hike in, has a deep coniferous forest and some beautiful lakes. The first half of the hike is relatively easy as you traverse a large, fairly even surfaced walking path, however, the second half of the hike will require a little more effort as the path gets smaller, less even and gains and loses altitude… A gorgeous lake and a well deserved sauna* awaits you when you’re done though!
General information:
Distance: 6 km / Duration: 2 hours
Difficulty: 2 – Moderate / Total height difference: 195 m
Travel time to the trailhead:
By public transport: 20 minutes
