A WALK IN THE PARK
This is a fairly challenging but incredibly rewarding hike! Just 20 kilometres from the centre of Stockholm lies one of the most unspoilt areas of natural beauty in central Sweden. The area is characterised by a rift valley landscape which is typical for central Sweden but unique from an international perspective. The park extends over almost 5,000 hectares and has been protected to preserve its exceptional natural values and to safeguard its importance for recreation. You can find primeval forest here with pine trees that are 400 years old, clear forest lakes and a large number of unusual plants and animals. You can also see broad-leaved deciduous woodland, open arable land and historical buildings of cultural interest.
General information:
Distance: 13 km / Duration: 4 – 6 hours
Difficulty: 4 – challenging / Total Height Difference: 50 mTravel time to the trailhead:
By public transport: 40 minutes / By car: 25 minutes
AFTER EFFORT COMFORT
This is the most challenging of our hikes, and also our favourite! Once you get on your way you’ll feel as though you are in the middle of nowhere, not within close proximity to the hustle and bustle of Stockholm. You won’t be able to hear the noises of the City, instead your ears will be full of the sounds of the surrounding nature; birds singing, the wind rustling the leaves in the tree, and the sound of the earth underfoot as you hike. The scenery throughout this hike is outstanding. You will pass 5 lakes on route and are able to bathe in all of them should you so wish. A gorgeous lake and a well deserved sauna* awaits you when you’re finished!
General information:
Distance: 12 km / Duration: 5 – 6 hours
Difficulty: 3 – challenging / Total height difference: 430 mTravel time to the trailhead:
By public transport: 35 minutes / By car: 25 minutes
SUBWAY TO SAUNA
This short hike is the closest to the City so is a perfect choice if you only have a short amount of time. The Nature Reserve you hike in, has a deep coniferous forest and some beautiful lakes. The first half of the hike is relatively easy as you traverse a large, fairly even surfaced walking path, however, the second half of the hike will require a little more effort as the path gets smaller, less even and gains and loses altitude… A gorgeous lake and a well deserved sauna* awaits you when you’re done though!
General information:
Distance: 6 km / Duration: 2 hours
Difficulty: 2 – Moderate / Total height difference: 195 mTravel time to the trailhead:
By public transport: 20 minutes -
On our Private Guided Hiking Tour, we provide:

- EQUIPMENT – daypack/rucksack, our delicious classic outdoor lunch to keep you well fueled and smiling, hot and cold drinks, seat mat so you can rest wherever you please, ice grips for your shoes during the winter.

Hike Options:
STOCKHOLM ARCHIPELAGO
Get a taste of the Stockholm Archipelago with a lovely hike. With a mix of forests, beaches and forestal roads you will spot lots of bird species from a view point during your hike. If the weather is nice you will also have time to take a dip in the Baltic Sea. This is the less accessible hike and our number one pick. You get to see all the trees, plants and tracks of the other hikes below plus you get a sense of the Stockholm Archipelago. The hike can be adapted according to the participants need making loops of between 5 and 15km. It takes between 40-45 minutes drive to go from the city center to the beginning of the trailhead.
This is our favorite hike as it is the one that is further away from the city and difficult to reach on your own with public transportation.
NATIONAL PARK
Explore one of the 30 national parks that you can visit in Sweden. Your guide will take you to the laregst primeval forest in South Sweden where you can find over 800 moss species as well as mushrooms and a vibrant wildlife. The most common trees are pines and tall spruces, and aspen and alter trees. Some of the trees are more than 400 years old. It takes between 30-45 minutes drive between the city center and the trail-head and we can adapt the length of the hike according to the participants needs.
NATURE RESERVE
Delve into one of the country most well-visited outdoor areas. The area is full of lush forest, wetlands and lakes. The most common trees are oaks and pine trees and if lucky you can spot many bird species and traces of hares, foxes and deers. The hike can be adapted according to the participants need making loops of between 5 and 15km. This is the closest option to the city center.
